BARKSDALE, SIKIA (STEPHEN) I. K. 5/3/1812, TN – 5/30/1878, Shannon Co.,
s/o Wm. & Sarah nee Smith, of English descent, m. Sarah Waller, 9 ch., 6
grew to maturity; William; Henry d.  1861 Civil War at Neosho, MO;
Wallar 1845 – 1862, Bine Bluff, Ark. In Confederate service, typhoid
fever-single; John & James d. infancy (both bur. Miller Cem-Max?); Mary
V. (m. John M. Daugherty), Celina and Sarah Holman, inf. son; S.I.K. had
sisters, Nancy (Mrs. William Holman) & Sue Bolding; from TN to Dent .,
Linn Township, 1839---home was burned by bushwhackers during Civil War;
had store here at one time; owner of black slave “Uncle Ned”

Collegiate Institute-Caledonia; spent 57 yrs. same farm

HOLMAN, CELINA w/o H. W. 8/29/1851 – 10/9/1899 on Meramec farm, nee
Barksdale, d/o S.I.K. & Sarah

HOLMAN, SARAH w/o H. W. 5/3/1849, family farm near Max – 2/24/1930, farm
where born, nee Barksdale, d/o S.I.K. and Sarah; she reared Celina’s
children & lived on the Barksdale homeplace later known as the Holman
farm.

This farm is presently owned by the Dalrymple Family. The cemetery, not
maintained, is enclosed by rock wall. During the Civil War the S.I.K.
Barksdale home was burned by bushwhacker. Uncle Ned (Negro) lived in
Barksdale home. S.I.K. had a store on the farm at one time
