Gibson and Dent Family Query In a family genealogy book that was printed out by Ozark Heritage Press and the Dent County Historical Society ( I think that is correct ? ) on several Dent and Gibson Families...they list several  individuals i am researching: ( 1 ). Mary C. Sherrill who married Walter Dent...had one son John Dent AND ( 2 ) John William Gibson who marries Mary C. Sherrill Dent after Walter dies. They were married in St Francios County in 1855.

Query: Is there any records that you have that can determine if this John William Gibson is the same as the John W Gibson who's family is shown as In the 1850 Census in Washington Co., Mo there are James and Mary Gibson( spelled Gipson) sons :  John W. Gibson, James M Gibson, Levi Gibson, and David Valentine Gibson.

Possible Connection: A John W. Gibson, Levi Gibson and David Valentine Gibson all get married within a few years of each other in St Francios County.

A James M. Gibson and a John W. Gison migrate to Parker County Texas in and around 1860-70. It is a fact that John Dent migrates with his mother Mary and stepfather John W. Gibson to Parker Co. , Texas.

I'm trying to connect this family.  if anyone has information they might share, I would appreciate a heads up !
Thanks, Fred Gibson
Descendant of Levi A. Gibson, Missouri

I am looking for information on George Washington Bolin.  He is my 3rd Great Grandfather.  He is listed in the 1860 census in Dent Co. and then he disappears.  His wife, Mary Ann Maxey Bolin, and son, Columbus Bolin, still living at home, are listed in Howell Co., Mo. in the 1870 census.  They are living with a daughter of George Washington Bolin and Mary Ann Maxey Bolin.  I am wondering if he was killed in a skirmish during the Civil War?  Was he murdered by bushwackers?  Anyone with information, please send a response. divider Researcher:   OLEDOLLAR13@aol.com

Seeking information on Francis Marion "Jack" Roberts who was alleged to have been "ambushed" in Apr 1863 on Pidgeon Creek on the property of a Mr. White who buried him where he fell.
I am assuming that Pidgeon Creek is in Dent Co. as other researchers show his death being in Dent Co. Where is Pidgeon Creek?
Any information would be appreciated.

I am not on the list so please contact me at: wlfranklin@iname.com

Any info on William Brown Hogan (1853-1919) married Miranda Lucy Catherine Reeves (1861-1940). Both I think moved to Dent/Phelps, and had William Madison "Matt" Hogan in February 1883.

Matt married 1st a Minnie Esther Hogan (father was David Franklin Hogan, mother was Harriet Jane Enloe) and between 1919 and 1920, divorced. He then married an Alice Plank. (we have pictures of their daughter, Lois Plank)

Last summer, my wife and I visited Dent County for the purpose of genealogical research. My ggg-grandparents, James Thaxton Dennis and Lucinda Hunter, lived there. We had the opportunity of visiting with Ken Fiebelman(?) who provided a lot of information in my efforts. Before leaving, we visited Mount Hermon Cemetery when James and Lucinda are supposed to be buried. We searched, searched, and searched some more for their graves, but, could not find them. Many of the headstones are old and could not be read. We did find a grave of his son, James Madison Dennis, as well as a couple daughters. If anyone knows where the graves are located, I would appreciate it if you could take a picture of them for my research.

Thanks.

I am searching for the parents of Minnie May Cofman (Cranmer?), who was the granddaughter of Charles D. Cranmer and Hannah Rouse Cranmer.  According to the family Bible she was born March 18, 1879.  Based upon the Bible entry, I don't know if Cofman was her maiden name or married name.  The only children of Charles and Hannah that were old enough to have been Minnie May's father or mother were (all Cranmer) Ann Adell, Austin E., Joel D., L. Francis and Ella May.  I don't know if Ann Adell married or what her married name may have been.  I believe Ella May married a Wm. Stallard, so neither Ann Adell nor Ella May were likely Minnie May's mother, unless Cofman was her married name.  That leaves one of the men as Minnie May's father.

I have been searching for over a year and would love to hear from anyone who might have any information.
