Lizzie was the foster or adopted daughter of David and Nancy (Indy) Curtis who are in the 1880, Dent Co, MO census. They subsequently showed up in the 1900 AR census.

Lizzie died in White County, AR, in 1943 and her death certificate said she was in the AR community for 53 years. So...she came to AR sometime around 1891.

My great grandfather was James Hobson b. abt 1853 in Dent Co. I believe.  He married Ida Jane Flint.  My grandmother, Emma Caroline Hobson, was also born in Dent Co. on September 24, 1880.  In my grandmother's Bible her father is listed as James K. Polk Hobson, sometimes even written Kapolk.  All of the genealogies list him under the children of Joab Hobson as James Anderson Hobson.   I do not understand this.  I think it would have been mentioned as I was growing up because Emma Caroline Hobson later married Jones Anderson in California.  The 1860 census lists Joab Hobson in Dent Co. with a son, James K. age 7.  Is there any other source to check these names and dates??  I hope this is not too confusing.  I would appreciate any help I can get.  Thanks.

I am researching my Copeland ancestors who lived in Dent County during 1850-1880....Ransom Copeland b. 1822 who is on the census records for Dent County 1850, 1860, and 1870. He had many children by 2 different wives (Louisa Sims and then Polly Turnbough).

I am especially interested in Solomon Copeland b. abt. 1840 (with Louisa Sims). Solomon married Mary J. Butts in 1861. They had their first son William Grant Copeland in MO in 1863. Other children were: John Copeland b. 1866 and two daughters Della and Dora. These children eventaully moved to Texas and OK.
I am having great difficulty finding any info on Solomon. I am beginning to wonder if Solomon is really his middle name. I think he died young and his wife remarried.

I would appreciate any suggestions or info you have.

Walter Elmer and Pearl Plank-Duckworth

I have a collection of over 750 letters written by Walter E. Duckworth during his service in WWII. It is my intention to publish these letters and so I want to get as much background on him as I can. Unfortunately, Walter and his wife, Pearl, had no children. Consequently, I must rely on other sources of information. As luck would have it, Walter (aka Bill) does not appear in the SSDI. The best guess I have on a birth year comes from a document found among the letters. His age suggests a birth in 1915 or 1916. Pearl was born 5 Dec 1913 and died 31 Aug 2003.

Can anyone help me find birth and death dates for Walter? Particularly helpful would be obits for Walter and Pearl. It would also be worth having their place(s) of burial. I could not find either in any on-line cemetery list.

Walter and Pearl were longtime residents of Salem.

In exchange for assistance with this request, I can offer my services in accessing Mississippi records. I work in the State Archives.

Thanks
