My ggrandmother Kessiah Wisner/Weisner married Aaron Davis in Dent Co in 1876 at the Hawkins S. H. I received a copy of the marriage with Aaron's Civil War papers. The marriage was recorded in 1876 and again 22 years later September 26 1898. The 1898 filing was done by a C.S. Wisner Clerk. I think the second filing most likely had to do with Kessiahs pension application.

I would like information on this clerk C.S. Wisner. He/she is probably related to my Wisner's. Is this person showing on the 1900 Dent census?

Surnames: Hoover, Troutman, Fesperman, Leonard, Williams

Posted: 18 apr 2006

This may be a long shot on information about Manerva Thompson, but here
goes.... There is a Manerva Hoover b. 1847 in Crawford County, MO. Her
parents were John Jefferson Hoover and Margaret A. Troutman. They
appear on the 1850 census in Crawford County with 3 year-old daughter M.E.
On the 1860 census John and Margaret Hoover appear in Carroll, Reynolds
County, MO with 14 year-old Minerva and several more children.
John Hoover died of disease while serving in the 32nd Missouri Infantry
during the Civil War. Margaret died sometime soon after, leaving their
young children orphaned. The younger Hoover children appear in 1870
living with Margaret's mother and sister. Manerva would have been old
enough to have married in the late 1860s. I have never been able to figure
out what happened to her without marriage or death information.
Margaret Troutman was the daughter of Daniel Troutman (born 1804 in NC,
son of Jacob Troutman and Margaret Fesperman) and Ann Leonard (b. 1804
in NC, daughter of Robert Leonard and Ester Williams). Daniel Troutman
is noted as one of the earliest settlers of Crawford/Dent County, MO.
If you find that this is your Manerva, and you are descended from these
Troutmans, below is a web address for the Troutman family from NC.
There is a treasure of information about the Troutmans on this website.

http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~reburke/troutman/family/index.html

I also have a lot of information on Robert Leonard and his descendents.
My gg-grandfather was Ann Leonard's younger brother Abner H. Leonard,
who came to Dent County from NC as a child, and died there in 1910.

Good Luck, I hope this is a match.

He married 1) Mary Ray about 1866 and had Benjamin F. Bennett 2) Martha M.(Hall) Ralph (a widow) m. 21 January 1875 in Crawford County, MO and had Martha, Thomas E., William H. and Herbert Madison.
